“We are so pleased to revive this old heavy industrial site with a new age clean energy project. The $600 Million opportunity will bring much needed jobs, make the region’s power supply more stable and improve local infrastructure.”

Raj Suri – Chief Executive Officer, EmberClear

Birdsboro Power Project is a 485 MW natural gas-fired combined cycle facility (NGCC) located about 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia. The Project will employ the latest advanced gas turbine technology and will benefit from the best-in-class fuel efficiency. EmberClear has partnered with Ares Management, $100 Billion assets under management, to complete the development of the Birdsboro Power Project.

The Project will be constructed on a 50-acre brownfield site with existing infrastructure. A six-mile water pipeline has been constructed to connect Reading and Birdsboro Water Authority systems in order to augment the water supply for the Birdsboro. The city’s waste treatment facility adjoining to the plant has also been modernized.

The Project has already completed the PJM System Impact Study and expects to finalize the construction schedule by Q3-2016. The Air Permit to construct was received in April 2016 and all other key regulatory approvals are also in place.

The Project will construct a dedicated 14-mile lateral to access natural gas from Texas Eastern (TETCO), a major interstate natural gas transmission system. The Project will also build a 3.8-mile electric line connecting to an existing 230 kV line. The local utility is Metropolitan Edison (in the MAAC zone of the PJM RTO).

The projected financial close is Q4-2016 with a projected commercial operations start of May 2019. The Project will bring a $600 Million investment in the Birdsboro region and create approximately 300 construction and 25 permanent jobs.
